Classic Tank
About
Classic tank ecoprinted with home grown coreopsis flowers & marigold petals in a avodaco dye bath.
Coreopsis plants are a beautiful wildflower I grow on my balcony. They provide bright orange colors or dark greens depending on how the fabric has been treated. It is one of my favorite dye plants to work with and the flower is portrayed in the Wear Tinctoria logo.
Avocados pits and skins are high in tannins, making them a great dye source. They require a slow extraction over many days and the hughs are a bit unpredictable ranging from peach to pink depending on time of year, region of origin, and how long they were stored for.
Material: 95% GOTS Organic Cotton | 5% Elastan
Fit
Tight enough so you don't have to wear a bra, stretchy enough to fit different sizes.
Annette is 1.77m and normally wears an S/M.
Currently working on expanding my sizing selection to be more inclusive. As this is a new initiative I've just been replicating my own favorite clothes. If you have a garment you loooove, get in touch and we can discuss how to make a naturally dyed version!
Care
Care for your naturally dyed clothing by:
-
Washing with pH neutral natural soap in cold water. Please note, the first time you wash the garment some extra dye might come out.
-
Drying out of the sun.
Botanical dyes are often referred to as living colour because of the way the shades mature with time.... depending on the dye used, the pigments will have varying sensitivity to sunlight and washing. Fabrics are treated before dyeing to ensure maximum fatness of the color, but years from now if you'd like to give new life to your garment, I encourage you to experiment with your own techniques.
