About the event
Do you know paints were made from before synthetic pigments? They were made from natural sources like minerals and many were made from natural dyes using a process called lake pigments. This workshop is for all artists and painters who wish to learn how to make their own paints from plants.
In this workshop we’ll extract dyes from locally available plants and turn them into lake pigments that can be used as a base to make many different types of paint (from screen-printing ink to watercolours).  Participants will then have time to put paintbrush to paper and experiment with the paints and watercolours they’ve created. Additionally, each person will take home a palette of locally foraged plant colours that they made and instructional booklet so they can repeat the activity at home.
The workshop will taught in English but any questions can be clarified in Portuguese.
Price*: €50 per person plus VAT
